UCQ organizes introductory visits to schools in collaboration with the Ministry of Education
Doha: The University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ) hosted around 200 students as part of a series of introductory school visits, launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The initiative is a major milestone in showcasing nursing studies and educating students on the importance of science and technology disciplines to meet the needs of the Qatar labor market, thereby realizing the goals and objectives of the Vision Qatar National (QNV) 2030. Information and interactive tours recently took place at the UCQ campus and hosted boys and girls from 10 different schools.
“We are very happy to collaborate with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education on this excellent initiative to present our programs and show the important role we play in the training and preparation of future nurse leaders in Qatar”, explained Dr. Deborah White, Dean. and professor, UCQ.
“This initiative presents a great opportunity for UCQ to motivate young students and give them a clear idea of what it means to be a nurse and the critical role nurses play in supporting the country’s vision and aspirations in this area. health.
Introductory school visits included a campus tour and a series of workshops and presentations by Dr. Deborah White and the Student and Enrollment Services team. Participating students engaged in interactive sessions and experimental activities while exploring UCQ’s experiential learning center, simulation center and laboratory. Sessions and visits were held in small groups and social distancing measures were implemented in accordance with COVID-19 precautionary procedures and protocols.
Commenting on the initiative, Director of Student Services and Enrollment, Dr Mohamoud Adam, said: “It was wonderful to have students on our campus.
The State of Qatar is fortunate to have such talented and gifted students in its education system and future labor market. I would like to thank the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for launching this successful initiative.
This initiative is an important step in the promotion of new college majors that will meet the needs of the labor market in the 22nd century. The ministry, represented by the Office of Educational and Vocational Guidance – Department of School Guidance in Educational Affairs Sector, launched the initiative in partnership with leading universities and educational institutions in Qatar.
Ahmed Nasser Al Balam, Head of Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, expressed his gratitude to all participating schools and said: “The Minister of Education and Higher Education launched this initiative to introduce students to different scientific and technological disciplines and professions.
