Where: On line. Registration details to come…

Insight:

The Nature Positive Universities Alliance, co-led by the University of Oxford and UNEP, will launch its university engagements at COP15 in Montreal on December 8.

This initiative brings together universities around the world to come together and prioritize nature on college campuses and in their supply chains. Learn more in this introductory video.

This network now includes registrations of over 600 people from over 400 universities – a mix of people including students, researchers, staff and leaders. Part of our mission now is to convert them (along with other universities who have probably never heard of our initiative) to do a NaturePositive Pledge which involves their VC or senior management committing to perform a baseline of their impacts on biodiversity, to set intelligent objectives, to carry out actions and annual reports. We also have a network of 85 student ambassadors from countries ranging from Cameroon to India, Nigeria and Brazil, promoting action for nature on their campuses.

At COP15, we will announce the founding universities of this Alliance, which were the first to concretely commit to restoring their relationship with nature and becoming nature positive.

Join us at the launch event on December 8, 2022 at 8am EST / 4pm EAT to learn more about the founding universities and the great work they will do, as well as how the Alliance will move forward to inspire the sector to strengthen its leadership for nature and biodiversity.
