In response to the emergency appeal issued by the authorities of the communities of the district of Nueva Requena, due to the rapid increase in influenza cases in remote communities, the regional government of Ucayali, through its regional health directorate (Diresa), provided immediate medical attention with assistance and logistical support from Ocho Sur.

On this occasion, doctors and nurses assessed the state of health, in particular Covid-19 and the flu, of children and adults in the communities of Shambo Porvenir and Caribe; as well as the indigenous community of Santa Clara de Uchunya. People affected by the flu epidemic, mainly children, were treated and received their medication free of charge. During this visit, no case of Covid-19 was detected.
