Greek Foreign Ministry advises Greek citizens to leave Ukraine

The Foreign Ministry on Monday advised Greek citizens to leave Ukraine immediately, adding that it strongly discourages all travel through the country.

According to a ministry announcement, a meeting was convened on Monday morning under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, in the presence of National Defense Ministers Nikos Panagiotopoulos, Education Minister Niki Kerameus and Deputy Foreign Minister foreign Andreas Katsaniotis.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly advises against all travel through Ukraine, and at the same time advises Greek citizens in the country to leave the country immediately,” the ministry said in a statement.

“Greek citizens who have not yet left are also advised to immediately provide their contact details to the Greek Embassy in Kyiv.”

It is also reported that the staff of the embassy in Kyiv has been reduced to what is strictly necessary. At the same time, the staff of the Consulate General in Mariupol will be reinforced.
