Bangladesh and Brunei agree to strengthen collaboration in energy sector

Bangladesh and Brunei have agreed to explore long-term collaboration mechanisms in the energy sector, particularly in the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other petroleum products to Bangladesh, BSS reports.

This was stated in a joint statement between Bangladesh and Brunei Darussalam on the state visit of Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah to Bangladesh released here this evening.

Brunei Darussalam recognized the contribution of Bangladeshi expatriates in its continuous development process, he said.

Bangladesh and Brunei Darussalam have agreed to discuss the possibility of recruiting more workers, including skilled labor and professionals from Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam in the relevant sectors, if necessary.

Both parties have agreed to manage the recruitment process in a transparent, orderly and ethical manner.

Bangladesh offered Brunei Darussalam the benefits of investment opportunities in Bangladesh’s Special Economic Zones.

Brunei Darussalam took note of the offer and looked forward to discussing potential areas of investment cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The Southeast Asian nation has also called on Bangladesh to consider investing in its economic diversification activities, such as food, agriculture and aquaculture industries.

The two sides identified trade and investment as vital areas of bilateral cooperation and expressed their willingness to work to increase the volume of bilateral trade, which is currently well below potential.

The two sides also welcomed the discussions to explore the possibility of a mechanism between the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Brunei Darussalam to expand cooperation in trade, commerce and trade. investment, as well as to seek support for strengthening business-to-business relationships. relationships and cooperation.

The two parties also agreed to deepen their collaboration in the field of Halal trade.
